On the night of September 15, under the arches of the Mexican Embassy in Rome, we poured our destilados de agave for the 216th Anniversary of the beginning of Mexico’s Independence.

That evening was not a trade-show aisle. It was a diplomatic reception — the embassy’s most important gathering of the year — where Mexico’s community in Italy, guests and friends came together to celebrate in the hundreds. Puntiagudo was there as a sponsor, bringing small numbered lotes from Oaxaca and Puebla to the table.

Pictured below, “Con sincero agradecimiento” — with sincere thanks to the sponsors. Seeing DESTILADO DE AGAVE PUNTIAGUDO, OAXACA, MX on the embassy screen was a quiet, proud moment for our team.

At our stand we showed our European expressions rested in glass, the process photos that tell who harvests and who distills, and we had conversations in Spanish, Italian and English with people who wanted to taste Mexico before the night ended. Between pours we watched the ceremony, the flags and the gathering that makes September 15 unmistakable anywhere in the world.

Days later the Embassy of Mexico in Italy sent a formal thank-you to our founder, César, for supporting the reception. We are grateful for the invitation and for the chance to stand with Mexico in Rome — the same week we were also on the floor of Roma Bar Show.
If you raised a glass with us that night, gracias. ¡Viva México!
