Mario Acevedo Ortiz
His Origins

Mario was born in Miahuatlán on July 4, 1984, and from a young age, he grew up surrounded by the love of his family and the traditions of the palenque. At 15, he began learning the family trade but later traveled to the United States to work.
In 2008, upon returning to Mexico, he sadly discovered that the native magueys he knew had disappeared, replaced by introduced species.
Determined to save the ecology and preserve his roots, he opened a nursery and began reproducing these almost extinct agaves. Over time, he started producing Mezcal, falling even more in love with the nobility of the agave, which he sees as a symbol of strength and beauty.
His favorite Mezcal is made from Maguey Velató, the first one he produced, and he specializes in creating batches from his own plants, from seed to cup.
He dreams of expanding his cultivation of endemic magueys, defending the land, and offering signature Mezcals to those who value Mexican culture.
For Mario, the agave is not just a plant; it is a legacy he wants to share with the world.
